Frost Crystals Shawl

This shawl was a labor of love made for my baby sister's up coming birthday.  I combined a lovely pure silk warp with some beautiful artisan beaded mohair and silk yarn to weave up a light as air slightly sparkly shawl.

It is hard to capture the iridescent beads even out here in the sunlight, darn it all.  You will have to take my word, the shawl is just lovely.  Pretty sure my little sister will love her handwoven birthday present. Guess I better get it in the mail - it takes awhile for things to arrive overseas.

On to the next project...

Do You See A Trend Here?

Do you see a trend here in my weaving studio, I sure do.  Red.  Lots and Lots of Red.

Red is one of my favorite colors and it seems that particular trait of mine is taking over my weaving choices lately.

Think I need to expand my color choices in the future...nah, it will never happen.

On to the next project...wonder if it will be red?

Swedish Christmas Trees In The Snow

Once again I have used a tried and true weaving draft to create several table runners.  This rendition is done with a multi red hued warp and snowy white cotton.

Hard to capture the true beauty of the gold metalic threads used in the above version.

Silver and white boucle threads really catch the light, unfortunately the camera or possibly the camera operator is unable to do the yarn justice.

Wove these tea towels up using Jean Scorgie's draft, I think they turned out beautifully.  These particular towels are being donated for a United Way auction that is scheduled for September.  Hope my small contribution brings in some much needed money them.

On to the next project...
