2015 Recap

2015 wasn't the best year for getting into my studio to weave.  Between doctor appointments and surgical dates I was not as productive at the loom as I would have liked.  Below you will find a few of the textiles that came from my looms - I decided not to bore you with everything and only chose the towels I particularly enjoyed weaving.

Swedish drall blocks, woven in what I think of as traditional Scandinavian colors.

Fancy twill "plaid" towels - using up all those colorful left over bobbins in my stash.

Twill blocks in a warm Autumn colors.

Monks Belt - one of my favorite drafts to weave.

Developed what I call my Nordic Stars weaving draft, lots of fun to weave and no super long floats.

Revisited the Autumn towel theme but used a different twill block pattern.

Sparkly silver trees and snowflakes on a field of cobalt blue.

Margarita napkins woven my way with a newly my developed twill draft.

Colorful stripes!

Modified twill blocks used to play with citrus inspired colors.

Used some of my sampling stash to come up with a teapot handle cover to protect your hands while pouring hot tea.

Rainbow block towels in vibrant orange and magenta.

Lost our dearly loved Old English Sheepdog, Sam.  Known to some as my weaving studio supervisor.  I miss his presence in my weaving studio very much.

Managed to weave and finish an eleven yard warp in record time for a client - Nordic Stars in Christmas colors.

Here is to hoping that 2016 brings all of us health, wealth and happiness.

Snowflakes Are Finished

Four snowflake Christmas towels are finished and are winging their way to my client.  Whew, that was a tight turn around time - thank goodness they are done.

Not to waste man-hours or should I say weaver-hours the warp I used for the snowflake towels was made extra long so that I could weave up a few towels for my Etsy shop.

Using a medium grey as the main color in this towel made me think of Nordic / Scandinavian sweaters.  I think the darker colors will be most welcome in a busy kitchen, they hide the stains better.  I also hope that this towel and it's cousin in a lighter grey will appeal to the guys in the kitchen.

Warm dark green cotlin from my stash lends itself to a very cheerful Christmas towel.

Turning my thoughts to another season.  Nice sea glass teal blue and sky blue remind me of summer time and beaches.

Woven Snow Flakes

One of my favorite clients asked me for a last minute - down to the wire  - could you please - weave me four more Christmas towels?  What is a weaver to do, of course I said I would be happy to.  These snowflakes are my own design and weave up nicely.  It is always a joy to weave for clients that really appreciate fine handwoven textiles.

Off to the loom, these need to be in the mail soon.

Until We Meet Again

Sam Wise Gamgee, our beloved Old English Sheepdog went into liver failure yesterday.  With heavy hearts it was time to say goodbye to our dear boy.

Sam, this is not goodbye - it is only until we meet again.

We love you and will miss you so much,

love you big guy,
